Biography

Yining has always had a passion for dance.  Starting at four with ballet lessons at the Singapore Ballet Academy, Yining cultivated her love for dance during her ten years at Singapore Chinese Girls’ School where she was part of the school dance group.  In her university years in London, she continued to take classes at The Place and Pineapple studios as well as representing University of London on the ballroom dance team.  She also pursued summer dance programs with California State University and Boston Conservatory.

Pursuing a more traditional career path, Yining started her career in management consulting with Bain and Company.  She took sabbaticals during her ten years with Bain to learn the Salsa and Argentine Tango in South America.  She subsequently spent another ten years with Wilmar International, a Singapore-based global agribusiness group.  As Senior Manager of Business Development she was responsible for the group’s global M&A and joint venture collaborations.  She subsequently served as Wilmar International’s Group Head of Human Resources before leaving to take time off to spend time with her young children.

Yining has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSc from The London School of Economics & Political Science where she graduated with first-class honours in Economics.

Being part of the founding team of The Dance Place is returning to a place that is close to her heart.
